Michael Beale to blame for everything after Sunderland nightmare says ex Black Cats boss - Daily Record

After Michael Beale was fired earlier this season, former Rangers striker Jermain Defoe has entered the running to take over as manager of Sunderland.

English Championship team After deciding to part ways with Beale after just nine weeks in command, Sunderland are currently without a permanent manager. The 43-year-old did nothing to win over the supporters and lost six of his ten games at the Stadium of Light.

After spending two years as an academy coach at Rangers, Defoe concluded his playing career with Sunderland. He has expressed his intention to become a manager. And it might occur sooner as opposed to later.

“What if I were to receive a call right now asking if I wanted to manage Sunderland? “It would be a dream come true when you’ve always wanted to manage a Premier League team; I know it’s a big club,” Defoe told reporters at the opening of his Jermain Defoe Academy at East Durham College. “Why not?”

I used to say all the time, even as a player, that I would love to manage this club. I’m not sure if other players feel the same way about the club and its supporters, or if they would want to take over as manager of this team. I played with Paulo Di Canio, who later managed this team, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, and John O’Shea. I had a conversation with Antonio Conte last season at Tottenham regarding his introduction to the game.

“I had a conversation with Gareth Southgate. We had a sit-down during one of my classes, and I was fortunate enough to spend two or three hours discussing his path at Middlesbrough, where he went from captain to suddenly receiving a call in the summer requesting to take over as manager. Everybody has a unique journey. Let’s go; if given the chance, I wouldn’t hesitate to take it. Knowing who you’ll bring with you is crucial, and I have that covered.
