West Ham target and FA Cup star hands Irons huge transfer boostWest Ham and Aston Villa are set to battle it out for the Coventry City winger Callum O’Hare who has just handed the Premier League sides a huge boost ahead of the summer’s transfer window.

The 25-year-old’s current contract with the Sky Blues will run out this summer and the former Villans player has told the club he will be leaving on a free transfer, according to Football Insider.

The winger has also attracted the attention of Southampton who have booked their place in the Championship play-offs in the hope of heading back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. As the league currently stands, the Saints will play either Norwich or West Bromwich Albion in the semi-finals before looking to see how they can strengthen their squad this summer.Callum O'Hare scored his side's second goal in FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United

Russell Martin’s side will, however, face fierce competition if they are to secure O’Hare’s signature with the prospect of European football to lure the winger to either West Ham or Aston Villa. While Villa are close to confirming the fourth Champions League spot for the 2024/25 season, the Irons are in eighth and will look to book a spot in at least the UEFA Europa Conference League if the Europa competition cannot be secured.

The former England youth international has rejected three contract offers to remain with Coventry beyond the season and reportedly believes he is ready to head back up to the Premier League after Mark Robins’ squad failed to reach the play-offs. The Sky Blues have recently failed to win any of their past five fixtures and sit ninth in the league.

With O’Hare’s current contract situation as it is, it comes as no surprise that he is a target of both David Moyes and Unai Emery’s clubs. The winger can play both off the left flank or as an attacking midfielder which would be of exceptional use to both the Irons and Villans as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The winger first joined Villa Park at the age of just seven, making his first team debut in the side’s 2-1 win over Colchester United in the League Cup. He has enjoyed loan spells at Carlisle United and Coventry before making the latter move permanent in July 2020. O’Hare has registered ten goals and four assists in his 34 appearances this season, further impressing by scoring the second goal in Coventry’s recent penalty shoot-out defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.
