A trade target that is undervalued that the Milwaukee Bucks should monitor
Though the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline is still several months away, Milwaukee Bucks supporters have been busy organizing defensive-focused trade packages in an attempt to increase the team’s chances of winning the championship.
As is customary for Bucks supporters, they have been daydreaming and envisioning prominent players like Dorian Finney-Smith, Alex Caruso, and former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart. Despite the fact that acquiring any of those defensive aces would be fantastic, Milwaukee’s asset position might currently be too thin.
Torrey Craig of the rival Chicago Bulls is one player who might be a more realistic target if they are really looking to add more defense.

An NBA veteran with a lot of travel experience, Craig has always been a reliable 3-and-D wing when he puts them on the court. The 6-foot-7 veteran can defend a variety of positions and play either forward, making him incredibly versatile. He is a reliable scorer of three points and averages about six points per game offensively. Without a doubt, the Milwaukee Bucks could use another player of that caliber.
Craig and Jae Crowder, who is presently sidelined following surgery several weeks ago, tick a lot of the same boxes. Off the bench, Craig and Crowder might be a fantastic combination for the Bucks, providing them with two seasoned defenders who don’t mind taking on challenging assignments every night.
Craig, of course, is no stranger to the Bucks, having spent a brief stint with them in the 2020–21 campaign prior to his trade. Craig had an unusual stint because he was injured early on and was never able to maintain his spot in the lineup. This time around, with a new coaching staff in charge, things would be different—particularly considering how urgently Milwaukee needs more defense.
Rumor has it that the Chicago Bulls might make changes before the deadline, so the Bucks should keep an eye on Craig. Although players of Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso’s caliber would dominate the bidding wars, Craig might be a good acquisition for a contender with minimal assets, such as the Milwaukee Bucks.
Milwaukee is even more motivated to pursue Craig because of his NBA contract, which pays $2.5 million this season. That is incredibly reasonable, even for a team like the Bucks that is severely short on resources. To get them some immediate defensive support, the Bucks could make a low-risk, high-reward trade by sending out a second round pick and a minimum contract.
To be clear, these are just rumors, and the Chicago Bulls have not said that they plan to have a fire sale this season. But, Milwaukee’s front office needs to put in some calls if they begin to offload players in the upcoming months. Craig can still be of assistance to this Milwaukee team even though he isn’t the most highly sought-after trade target.
