Robbie Savage, a former Derby County captain, has praised the Rams’ confidence in manager Paul Warne and hailed the team’s return to the championship.

Despite moments when it appeared improbable, Derby was promoted from League One at the second attempt, having missed out in Warne’s debut season.

Especially during the fall, when Warne was in charge of erratic performances and tensions rose following losses to clubs like Stevenage and Shrewsbury Town.

But after November, when Warne orchestrated the fourth third-tier promotion of his career, the Pride Park team really got going. They can now anticipate a more positive Championship campaign as a result of the ownership concerns being settled and the football team’s stability.

Savage, who played for the Rams in 2008 when they were demoted with just 11 points, expressed his happiness with the improvement.

“It’s just fantastic that Derby County is back in the Championship,” he said to Planet Sport Bet. “Compared to how I handled them, they’re doing far better! Even if there were moments when the supporters weren’t entirely convinced about Paul Warne, he has performed admirably.

“The club stayed with him, and they were rewarded for their efforts when they were promoted from a tough league that included some excellent teams. I’m happy for the Derby supporters.
