The St. Louis Battlehawks have had a promising start to the offseason as another one of their players has made the leap to the NFL.
Linebacker Willie Harvey Jr. finalized a deal with the Cowboys on Tuesday after completing a workout with Dallas. His signing was anticipated once the UFL season concluded.
Harvey Jr. had an outstanding season, leading the league in tackles with 78. The 28-year-old linebacker also recorded nine tackles for loss, four sacks, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery across 10 games. His performance earned him a place on the All-UFL team as an inside linebacker and secured his spot as one of five Battlehawks selected for recognition.
Harvey previously played for St. Louis in the XFL last year, where he tallied 59 tackles in 10 games. Initially undrafted in 2019, he spent three seasons in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, contributing two tackles in four games. His impressive collegiate career at Iowa State earned him a place in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in January 2019.
Joining Jaryd Jones-Smith and Jacob Saylors, Harvey becomes the third Battlehawks player to sign with the NFL this offseason. He also joins cornerback Gareon Conley of the D.C. Defenders as the second UFL player to join the Cowboys.
St. Louis finished the UFL season with a strong 7-3 record, capturing the XFL Conference title in the regular season before ultimately falling to the San Antonio Brahmas in the playoffs.
