You never want to be the person who goes viral on social media for losing your lunch at a public event. However, there seems to be an exception to this rule: if you win a championship and then get sick at your own victory parade, it can turn from an embarrassing moment into a cherished memory.
This was the case for Boston Celtics small forward Sam Hauser. He recently talked about the viral clip of him getting sick during the Celtics’ duck boat parade after winning their 18th championship. “I didn’t drink all playoffs, and I hardly drank during the season,” Hauser shared in a recent interview with Chris Long on the “Green Light” podcast, as reported by Bobby Krivitsky of Sports Illustrated. “Everyone starts giving you drinks, and you just want to join in the celebration.”
“Then I had a cigar, and that made me dizzy,” he continued. “And shortly after, I got sick.”
“I didn’t have my phone with me all day, so my mom showed me the video. She probably watched it 20 to 25 times,” Hauser said.
“I remember it happening, and at the moment, people were cheering. I recovered quickly, so I was proud of myself.”
