Red Sox’s Craig Breslow Hints at Deadline Plans; Possible Major Trade Ahead?

The Boston Red Sox are firmly in the playoff race, surpassing expectations this season. They currently occupy an American League Wild Card spot if the season ended today.

Despite facing adversity, including injuries since Spring Training, Boston has continued to win without key players like Trevor Story, Lucas Giolito, and Garrett Whitlock.

With the trade deadline approaching, the Red Sox are likely to make moves to strengthen their roster. Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow hinted at this during a recent game against the Kansas City Royals, as reported by Alex Speier of the Boston Globe.

“We first have to start with crediting the players on the field, the staff,” Breslow said. “But, yeah, I think this team has put themselves in a position where we have to take them seriously, right? The job that they had to do is to win as many games as possible and they’re doing that. They’ll continue to do that — it’s my hope, it’s my expectation. We need to be thinking about opportunities for us to improve the club.”

It appears the Red Sox are gearing up to add players at the trade deadline, with many potential candidates available. A blockbuster deal, perhaps for someone like Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet, could propel Boston into serious contention in the American League.
