The running back roster for L.A. could be the deepest and strongest it has ever been during Sean McVay’s tenure.
The Los Angeles Rams are set to enter the 2024 season with one of the most potent offenses, at least on paper. The team seems to have all the necessary components to be among the NFL’s top offenses, potentially even the best. They’ve addressed all major positions, particularly the running back room.
Since Todd Gurley’s departure, the running back position had been a concern for the Rams, but it has now undergone a significant transformation. With Kyren Williams emerging and strategic signings and draft picks, the Rams’ running back group is poised to be one of the best and deepest this season.
As training camp approaches, the lineup is taking shape. Williams is set to be the undisputed RB1, while Blake Corum, the Rams’ third-round pick from Michigan, is expected to be RB2, especially if he performs well during training camp and preseason.
The RB3 spot is up for grabs, with Ronnie Rivers, Boston Scott, and sophomore Zach Evans all competing for the position. Any of these three backs could emerge as RB3 and see playing time, especially if injuries occur, as happened last season. They could also contribute significantly on offense or special teams.
Training camp will reveal who stands out and might even challenge Corum for the RB2 spot. The competition is open, and the best performer will secure the role once camp concludes.
