The Oklahoma Sooners baseball team maintained their momentum in the transfer portal this July by adding utility player Jeffrey Martz from GateWay Community College. Martz, who batted .320 with a .402 on-base percentage, hit 12 home runs, 12 triples, and 35 doubles during his two years in junior college.
Primarily a catcher in his collegiate career, Martz is versatile and can also play first and third base. He joins the Sooners with two years of eligibility remaining.
Head coach Skip Johnson has been very active in the transfer portal this month, bringing in players like Texas A&M’s Jason Bodin and Liberty’s Brayden Horton after losing eight players to the 2024 MLB Draft. The Sooners, who won the Big 12 regular season conference title in 2024, are preparing for their transition to the SEC.
