As Hurricane Helene moves northward through the Gulf of Mexico, many Miami residents are bracing for the worst. Life-threatening storms are anticipated, with warnings for people to prepare emergency kits and plans as the severe weather approaches the coastline.

While the safety of those in the affected areas is the top priority, questions remain about whether sporting events in the region will proceed. With that in mind, let’s explore the latest updates on whether teams like Orlando City, Inter Miami, Nashville SC, and Atlanta United will participate in the upcoming MLS fixtures.

Will Hurricane Helene disrupt MLS games this weekend?

As of now, there is no official announcement from MLS regarding potential game suspensions due to the hurricane. Midweek matches, including LAFC vs. Sporting Kansas City in the US Open Cup and Columbus Crew vs. Club América in the Campeones Cup, are set to take place far from the storm’s path.

Inter Miami

Inter Miami is scheduled to face Charlotte FC at Chase Stadium this Saturday, September 28, at 7:30 PM ET. As of this writing, no safety measures have been implemented by the team, and tickets remain available through official outlets.

Atlanta United

Atlanta United is also playing at 7:30 PM ET this weekend, facing Philadelphia. The match will be held at Subaru Park in Pennsylvania, well outside of the hurricane’s impact zone. Although travel might be affected, there has been no indication that the game is at risk of being postponed.

Messi finally returned to action against Atlanta United.

Both Nashville SC and Orlando City will be playing away games this weekend, facing New England Revolution and FC Dallas, respectively. This means they will be far from the hurricane’s path; however, similar to Atlanta, their travel may still be impacted.
