The Seattle Seahawks suffered their first loss of the season as Jared Goff led the Detroit Lions to a 42-29 victory. Goff set an NFL record by completing all 18 of his pass attempts, including two for touchdowns, and also scored his first career receiving touchdown.

“It’s nice when the ball doesn’t hit the ground,” Goff told ESPN, noting that he wasn’t aware of the record during the game but had a feeling he was close.

Both teams now sit at 3-1 for the season. For the Seahawks, Geno Smith threw for a career-high 395 yards with 38 completions from 56 attempts, one touchdown, and one interception.

The Lions took a 21-7 lead at halftime with touchdowns from Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. The Seahawks fought back, but Goff’s 70-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Williams extended Detroit’s lead to 35-20. Kenneth Walker III scored for Seattle in the fourth quarter, but Goff connected with Amon-Ra St. Brown to secure the win.

Earlier, St. Brown also threw a touchdown pass to Goff on a trick play. The Lions are second in the NFC North behind the undefeated Minnesota Vikings, while the Seahawks still top the NFC West despite the loss.

In Monday’s other game, the Tennessee Titans earned their first win of the season, defeating the Miami Dolphins 31-12. Nick Folk kicked five field goals, while Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears added rushing touchdowns. Titans quarterback Will Levis left the game with a shoulder injury, replaced by Mason Rudolph. Dolphins quarterback Tyler Huntley scored a late touchdown, breaking Miami’s 10-quarter drought without a score. The Titans sit third in the AFC South, and the Dolphins are last in the AFC East at 1-3.
