The Los Angeles Rams’ Week 3 victory over the San Francisco 49ers has come with a price. The team has been fined $100,000 after 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was pushed on the Rams’ sideline during the final play of their 27-24 win. Rams cornerback Derion Kendrick and safety Kamren Kinchens were specifically fined for their involvement in the altercation.
The rivalry between the Rams and 49ers has intensified since the Rams relocated from St. Louis to Los Angeles in 2016. It escalated further in 2021 when the Rams narrowly defeated the visiting 49ers in that year’s NFC Championship game.
This marks the second time in two days that Brandon Aiyuk has been at the center of a news story. On Friday, a video of Aiyuk throwing a fit during practice went viral after 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan asked him to wear the appropriate shorts. Aiyuk, who recently signed a $120 million extension, has had a challenging start to the 2024 season, with concerns about his conditioning after missing all of training camp.
