CINCINNATI — Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt addressed a group of over a dozen reporters at his locker on Wednesday, maintaining a calm demeanor as he discussed a Sunday he wants to forget.

At just 24 years old, he had never been pulled from a game before, but that changed during the Bengals’ 34-24 victory over the Panthers in Week 4.

According to Pro Football Focus, Taylor-Britt was targeted six times, allowing five receptions, including a 39-yard catch and a touchdown.

“It hasn’t happened before. That was a wake-up call for me,” he said when asked about being benched. “I put myself in that situation. I’m my biggest critic, so I just need to come back and work hard.”

Was he surprised by the benching? Did he take issue with it?

“No, not if you’re messing up the game,” he replied candidly. “[Lou] wants to win as much as I do.”

After making a remarkable interception in Week 2 against Kansas City, he found himself benched two weeks later while facing Andy Dalton and the Panthers.

Now, Taylor-Britt knows he needs to improve when he faces the Ravens on Sunday and show everyone his true capabilities.

“I’m ready to play football,” he stated.

Will the Ravens target him?

“Every way possible,” he said. “Double moves, deep balls, running at me. I just have to do my job and play my role.”
