Some readers are upset that certain contributors are too harsh on Tennessee football, even after wins. I share that concern, but as a strong supporter of free speech, I won’t censor my contributors—unless they become excessively critical of me.

Jimmy writes: (Josh) Heupel is incredibly foolish. He didn’t even try to secure a first down at the 4-minute mark and went into a conservative approach like Fulmer when he could have easily moved the chains and run out the clock. He won’t change. A hiring mistake.

Dont’e Thornton should be running deeper routes instead of Squirrel White. With his height, he could have reached passes that White couldn’t.

The game balls should go to the defensive coaches. The defensive line, linebackers, and secondary all performed exceptionally well.

My response: Once White’s injured shoulder heals, Tennessee should consider arm-stretching therapy for him. He was just a few inches short of catching that pass.

My response: Some UT fans might have considered trading Iamaleava for Arch—or even Archie Manning—after the Florida game. However, Iamaleava came through with crucial plays to help the Vols beat Alabama, both running and passing.

Tennessee coaches should have more confidence in him after that victory and should call for more designed runs for him.
