Tennessee baseball claimed the national championship in 2024 and then strengthened its roster with an impressive group of recruits.

Under coach Tony Vitello, the Vols secured the top-ranked recruiting class in the country, as reported by Perfect Game. This class features seven top-100 prospects currently on the Tennessee roster, participating in fall baseball, which includes an exhibition against Western Kentucky on Friday at 6 p.m. ET at First Horizon Park in Nashville.

Here are five freshmen expected to make an impact in the 2025 season:

Tegan Kuhns

Tegan Kuhns is on a path toward securing a spot in the weekend rotation. He has a powerful fastball complemented by effective secondary pitches, making him a high-strikeout pitcher who challenges hitters consistently.

With Tennessee revamping its entire weekend rotation, positions are open for competition, and Kuhns is making a strong case for inclusion. He appears to be one of the top two weekend options alongside Ole Miss transfer Liam Doyle.

A 6-foot-4 right-handed pitcher from Gettysburg Area High School in Pennsylvania, Kuhns was ranked by Perfect Game as the No. 45 overall player in the country. He is among the highest-ranked prospects to choose college over the 2024 MLB Draft and will be draft-eligible as a sophomore in 2026.
