The 49ers have found OL Jon Feliciano to be incredibly valuable.
Nothing compares to having a player take over and establish a position with ease.
That is what veteran offensive lineman Jon Feliciano of the San Francisco 49ers possesses. Due to Aaron Banks’ and Spencer Burford’s injuries this season, he has been able to cover at both guard positions. Furthermore, Feliciano has outperformed the two starters he has relieved, if not exceeded them.
“These guys are veterans; they know the rules of the game. They are aware of the roles. “They have started at left guard, right guard, and center throughout their careers,” offensive line coach Chris Foerster remarked.
Therefore, it does not startle them when you suddenly switch positions one week—you play right guard, one week left guard, and the next week center—and finish the game there. They have previously engaged in all of that. Therefore, it is priceless and cool that they can start playing right away. It is excellent.
Feliciano has shown to be a priceless asset to the 49ers. Pro Football Focus has him ranked No. 22 out of 57 guards in pass pro and No. 4 out of 57 guards in run blocking since Week 10, when he first saw playing time. Upon the conclusion of the season, his free agent signing with the 49ers will be regarded as one of their greatest moves. The 49ers’ offensive line is unquestionably one of their weaknesses.
Trent Williams is the only reliable player on the offensive line. And as you move from that offensive line’s left to right, it becomes increasingly dubious. Burford, the right guard starter, has performed mediocrely at best. There, Feliciano has proven to be an improvement. Stabilization on the right side of the offensive line is something the 49ers are in dire need of. The 49ers cannot afford to have right guard Tagalong be a liability in addition to right tackle Colton McKivitz.
Feliciano’s experience as an offensive lineman is crucial in this situation. To serve as a possible band-aid, the 49ers brought him in. When they platooned Daniel Brunskill and Burford last year, that is exactly what Brunskill was for them. Feliciano appears to have a handle on that going forward, as he provides a much-needed boost to the offensive line.
