The Yankees need to strengthen the starting rotation, add outfield support, and upgrade the middle of their lineup.

This offseason, the New York Yankees could use some assistance in the outfield.

The Yankees are starting over after winning just 82 games in the previous season. It is anticipated that New York will make significant off-season expenditures. The Yankees need to strengthen the starting rotation, add outfield support, and upgrade the middle of their lineup.

According to SNY’s Anthony McCarron, Colorado Rockies star Charlie Blackmon is another player who could make sense this offseason in free agency. New York has been linked to outfielders like Cody Bellinger on multiple occasions.

“Charlie Blackmon is 37 years old and seems more likely than not to re-sign with the Rockies,” said McCarron. But because of his skill as a professional hitter and his clean lefty swing, we offer him as a possibility here. It was his 13th season with a slash line of.279/.363/.440 last season.

Since hammering 32 home runs in 2019, he hasn’t hit more than 16 in a single year. But aside from a brief blip in 2022, he has been on base rather frequently and has not struck out. Compared to the Yanks as a team (23.9 percent), Blackmon only fanned 13.3 percent of the time in the previous campaign. Perhaps he could be a DH partner for Stanton, depending on the pitcher. Stanton would be complemented by Joc Pederson, another left-handed swinger that we discussed in our article regarding potential outfield assistance, as a left-handed designated hitter.”

Blackmon, who played in just 96 games the previous season, could be useful to the Yankees as a designated hitter and in left field. With a 279/.363/.440 slash line and 40 RBIs last season, the 37-year-old was reliable and, at the right price, might be an upgrade for New York.
