During Monday’s practice, the Green Bay Packers were lacking players at running back and tight end. The exercises on Tuesday might increase the depth.

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin: There were some shortages at tight end and running back when the Green Bay Packers resumed practice on Monday. Weekly team workouts could take care of those requirements.

The Packers will work out three tight ends on Tuesday, including former third-round pick Devin Asiasi, and two running backs, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

Josiah Deguara is dealing with a hip injury that prevented him from playing in Thursday’s victory against Detroit, and Luke Musgrave is on injured reserve. As a result, the Packers are working out Asiasi, rookie Joel Wilson, and journeyman Nick Eubanks.

In 2020, Asiasi was selected by New England in the third round, three spots ahead of Deguara. In his nine games as a rookie with the Patriots, he caught two passes for 39 yards and one touchdown. He spent the majority of 2021 as a healthy scratch and concluded the season with 0 catches in one game. He caught two passes for five yards in 12 games with Cincinnati in 2022.

Asiasi participated in training camp with the Bengals this year and was a member of the Browns practice squad for a few months.

From Michigan, where the majority of his four-year production consisted of 25 receptions for 243 yards and four touchdowns in 2019, Eubanks was not selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has participated in training camp with six different teams, including the Colts this year, but he has not participated in a regular-season game. He weighed 245 pounds and was 6-foot-4 on pro day. Having scored 4.69 out of 40, his RAS was 6.98.

The only tight ends the Packers had at Monday’s practice were Henry Pearson in the Deguara-style H-back role, Tucker Kraft and Ben Sims as traditional tight ends.

At practice, that’s one more loose end than running back. Only Patrick Taylor and practice squad rookie Ellis Merriweather were on the field for the Packers because Aaron Jones was sidelined due to a knee injury, Emanuel Wilson was placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury, and James Robinson was released.

There are two running backs: John Lovett and Brenden Knox.

In three seasons at Marshall, he ran for 2,852 yards (5.2 average), 24 touchdowns, and 27 receptions. Despite being a late-round pick according to NFL.com, he was not selected in the 2021 draft despite being 5-foot-10 3/4 and weighing 215 pounds with a 4.67 in the 40 (4.32 RAS).

Knox played in the XFL in 2023 for Seattle, but he has also had stints with the Cowboys and Chiefs without appearing in a game.

Lovett—who should not be confused with the same-named former Packers fullback/tight end—rushed for 1,980 yards over the course of four seasons at Baylor before concluding his career in 2021 with 177 yards and nine receptions at Penn State.

In 2022, Lovett, who weighed 215 pounds and stood 5 feet 11 1/2 inches tall, was not selected. His RAS was 4.58 with a 4.51 in the 40. He played for the Carolina Panthers for the majority of his rookie campaign and briefly joined the Steelers for training camp this year. Between, he ran for 496 yards with the Michigan team of the XFL.

Jarrett Guarantano, a former quarterback for Washington State and Tennessee who passed for 6,478 yards and 39 touchdowns between 2017 and 2021, was the sixth player.
