Jaxson Moi, a former defensive lineman at Stanford, pledges his commitment to Tennessee.

Tennessee secured its second commitment from the transfer portal today, successfully acquiring defensive lineman Jaxson Moi from Stanford. Moi, who recently visited Knoxville and reaffirmed his choice of Tennessee over Washington, announced the decision through X on Sunday.

Standing at 6-2 and weighing 303 pounds, the defensive tackle completed his sophomore season at Stanford and has two seasons of eligibility left to contribute to the team in Knoxville. Originally a three-star prospect from San Diego, California, Moi was ranked 541st overall in his high school class according to 247Sports.

During his sophomore season at Stanford, Moi played in all 12 games, securing seven starts, including the last six games of the year. He contributed with 15 tackles, one tackle for loss, and half a sack. In his freshman year, Moi was credited with 4.5 tackles for loss.

Moi’s recruitment took a turn when Kalen DeBoer, initially the coach at Washington, moved to Alabama, altering Moi’s plans for an official visit. This change provided an opportunity for Tennessee, where Rodney Garner successfully added the experienced defensive lineman to the roster.

Returning players in the middle of Tennessee’s defense include Omari Thomas and Omarr Norman-Lott. Additionally, Bryson Eason, Tyre West, Dominic Bailey, and Daevin Hobbs are expected to play significant roles in the front line during the 2024 season. Moi’s addition provides another seasoned player for rotation, contributing to Garner’s efforts to strengthen and develop the team.

Moi is set to join the team in Knoxville later this week to start the spring semester.
