Michigan Football continues to gain prominence as the Wolverines secure spots on additional top lists for the year 2022.
Having concluded the 2021 recruiting class, Michigan football, along with other programs, has shifted its focus to the 2022 prospects and beyond. Recent developments include the issuance of numerous offers to recruits in the 2023 and 2024 classes. Noteworthy updates for 2022 involve key targets revealing their latest lists of preferred teams.
Among these prospects is Oscar Delp, a four-star tight end, who unveiled a top-13 list that includes Michigan football. Originally a three-star prospect when offered by the Wolverines, Delp, hailing from Cumming, Georgia, has climbed the rankings to become the No. 10 tight end in the 2022 class, according to the 247 sports composite rankings, and is now ranked 236th overall. While the list of 13 schools may be subject to reduction, Michigan is likely to remain a contender, given their majority stake in Delp’s crystal ball projections on 247 sports. Georgia, listed as “warm” on his profile, presents a formidable challenge, but Michigan remains a strong contender. At 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, Delp, known for his exceptional pass-catching abilities, could be a valuable addition to the Wolverines’ offense.
In addition to Delp, Michigan football has secured a spot in the top three for another prospect in the 2022 class—four-star defensive back Bobby Taylor from Katy, Texas. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 180 pounds, Taylor is ranked as the No. 25 cornerback recruit in the 2022 class and the 32nd-best player in Texas. Despite Michigan’s late entry into the recruitment process following the hiring of new cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist, the Wolverines managed to secure a position in Taylor’s top three alongside Texas and Texas A&M. However, Texas A&M is considered the front-runner in this competitive recruitment scenario.
