Tennessee’s baseball team is predicted to secure the second spot in the SEC East and has three players included in the preseason All-SEC teams.
According to the coaches in the SEC, Tennessee baseball was forecasted to secure the second spot in the SEC Eastern Division. Additionally, three Tennessee players—starting pitcher Drew Beam, along with infielders Christian Moore and Billy Amick—were named to the Preseason All-SEC teams. Tennessee’s three selections in the Preseason All-SEC teams are tied for the second-highest number in the conference.
Last season, Tennessee finished tied for fourth in the SEC East but managed to advance to the College World Series, marking their sixth appearance. Florida, anticipated to win the East in the final year of divisional play before Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC, garnered 88 points and 11 first-place votes, while Tennessee accrued 75 points and two first-place votes.
Beam, Moore, and Amick were also recognized on multiple preseason All-America teams ahead of the 2024 season. Beam, the 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year, was named to the 2024 Preseason All-SEC First Team after contributing to Tennessee’s success in the 2023 MCWS. He led the team with nine wins, a 3.63 ERA, and a career-high 88 strikeouts.
Moore and Amick secured spots on the Preseason All-SEC Second Team. Moore led the Vols last season in several categories including runs, total bases, walks, on-base percentage, and stolen bases. Amick, who transferred from Clemson, earned recognition in 2023 for his exceptional performance, leading the Tigers in batting average, doubles, slugging percentage, and OPS.
