Boston Celtics Make Change to Roster Prior to Match Against Wizards
On Friday night, the Boston Celtics will welcome the Washington Wizards to Massachusetts. A day prior to the game, the team announced that rookie Jordan Walsh has been reassigned to the Maine Celtics in the G League.
The Boston Celtics stated, “Jordan Walsh has been assigned to the @MaineCeltics.”
Walsh, selected as the 38th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft from Arkansas, has frequently moved between Boston and Maine. He has participated in three Celtics games, marking his NBA debut against the San Antonio Spurs on January 17.
Despite being just 19 years old, Walsh has performed impressively in the G League, boasting averages of 15.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. He holds shooting percentages of 42.6% from the field and 36.0% from beyond the arc across 14 regular season games.
With the Maine Celtics hosting the Motor City Cruise on both Thursday and Saturday, it remains uncertain if Walsh will return to Boston for Friday’s match against the Wizards.
Currently leading the NBA, the Celtics boast a 39-12 record in 41 games, securing the top seed in the Eastern Conference. They are on a two-game winning streak and have won 7 out of their last 10 games.
After facing the Wizards, the Celtics will travel to Florida to play against Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat on Sunday afternoon. They hold an impressive home record of 24-3 in 27 games and a 15-9 record in 24 away games.
