Nick Gordon enters into salary arbitration proceedings with the Minnesota Twins.
In Scottsdale, Arizona, Nick Gordon engaged in salary arbitration with the Minnesota Twins on Friday, requesting a salary increase from $735,400 to $1.25 million, while the team advocated for a figure of $900,000.
A verdict from arbitrators Jasbir Parmer, Scott Buchheit, and Keith Greenberg is anticipated on Saturday.
Gordon, a versatile 28-year-old player capable of outfield, second base, and shortstop positions, posted a batting average of .185 in the previous season, contributing two home runs and seven RBIs in 34 games. This was a decline from his 2022 performance, where he held a .272 average with nine home runs and 50 RBIs across 136 games.
Gordon suffered a right shin fracture on May 17 when he fouled off a pitch from Dylan Covey of the Los Angeles Dodgers. His recovery kept him out of play until September 15, when he commenced a six-game rehabilitation stint with Triple-A St. Paul.
Over three seasons with the Twins, Gordon has achieved a .250 batting average, accumulating 15 home runs and 80 RBIs.
As of now, players hold a 7-2 advantage in salary arbitration, with the last six cases scheduled for hearings in the upcoming week. Notably, second baseman Jonathan India and the Cincinnati Reds reached a resolution with an $8.8 million, two-year contract, sidestepping an arbitration hearing for the 2021 NL Rookie of the Year.
