One player loaned out by Rangers has expressed how anxious it felt to depart the club in January.
Philippe Clement and director of football Nils Koppen effectively managed the winter transfer window, securing three new players to bolster the first-team squad. This period also facilitated the departure of several players, including Sam Lammers, a Dutchman who struggled to win over either his manager or the Rangers supporters following his £3.5m move to Ibrox in the summer.
Ben Williamson was transferred to Hamilton Academical, and numerous young players were loaned out to gain valuable playing time for the remainder of the season.
Among these was 20-year-old full-back Adam Devine, who was acquired by Motherwell after receiving approval from Clement to depart.
According to Transfermarkt, Devine did not make a single appearance in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season, with club captain James Tavernier occupying the right-back position consistently. Devine’s only first-team action came in the Viaplay Cup last 16 victory against Morton. Consequently, Devine, whose contract expires in the summer, was eager to secure a loan move in January.
Having been associated with Rangers since his youth, Devine had previously undertaken loan spells with Partick Thistle and Brechin City.
