Two minors have been accused in connection with the shooting at the Kansas City Super Bowl rally.
Two adolescents have been formally accused as minors in relation to the shooting incident that resulted in one fatality and 22 injuries in Kansas City, Missouri, near a celebratory rally for the NFL champion Chiefs following the Super Bowl, authorities revealed on Friday (Feb 16).
The pair, apprehended shortly after the shooting on Wednesday, are currently held at a juvenile detention center facing charges related to firearm violations and resisting arrest, as stated by Jackson County’s Family Court.
Although law enforcement has disclosed the suspects’ juvenile status, their identities remain undisclosed due to their age.
Charges were officially filed on Thursday, with subsequent family court proceedings set to be conducted in privacy in accordance with Missouri law.
The statement further indicated the ongoing nature of the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department, hinting at potential additional charges to be brought forth in due course.
Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker emphasized her office’s collaboration with family court authorities overseeing the case, despite lacking jurisdiction over family court matters, in a written statement issued on Friday.
