Emeka Egbuka is drafted by the Carolina Panthers in PFN’s mock

The Panthers currently own the No. 33 pick in the NFL Draft, but if their decline continues, they appear destined to forfeit the first overall pick to the Chicago Bears in 2024. Depending on the needs elsewhere, they might be able to acquire a legitimate first-round talent.

In his most recent mock draft, Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network touched on this subject. Initially, the writer secured for Young a genuine game-changer at wide receiver: Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka, a physically gifted wideout who has the ability to create havoc with the football in his hands.

Despite his injury, which kept him out of the spotlight for a while, Emeka Egbuka is still a first-round wide receiver on my roster because of his exciting three-level ability, shrewd route running, and RAC abilities.

It appeared as though Egbuka would have a fantastic final season with the Buckeyes before an injury occurred. Although having Marvin Harrison Jr. as a teammate was advantageous, the explosive presence stood out due to his deft route running, confident ball handling, and rapid stride after the catch.

In addition to being a talented pass-catcher, he is a physical and elusive runner. With his exceptional speed and surprisingly effective blocking abilities, Egbuka can overwhelm any defense and prove to be a valuable asset during running downs.

The Panthers have severely lacked players of this caliber this season. Someone with the ability to create magic for significant gains out of nothing and make plays at all three levels of the field.

Upon examining Egbuka’s tape, certain issues are raised. The player’s ability to focus can be a problem at times, and he needs to increase the success rate of his contested catches. Improving his route running in press-man situations would also help him make a seamless transition from college to the pros.
