As the primary goalkeeper at Ibrox, Butland, who has been in exceptional form and is arguably one of ex-manager Michael Beale’s most significant signings, addressed for the first time Ross Wilson’s and Forest’s interest in him. He made it clear that not only did he decline the offer, but he also intends to stay at Ibrox for a considerable period.
Butland stated, “I unequivocally declined. When my agent presented the opportunity, I immediately refused, and he concurred. The club had already rejected the proposal, so there was no hesitation – that was the end of it. We were actually with the team, I believe it was on deadline day. We were all together at a team function, and that settled it. There was never even a possibility. I’m enjoying my time here. There are too many goals to pursue, too much unfinished business.”
He emphasized his commitment to achieving more at Rangers. He has already secured a League Cup trophy, his first major honor at the age of 30. His determination to accomplish more with Rangers signals his intention to potentially extend his stay in Govan beyond the summer, despite his contract running until 2027.
