Report:   and kicker Wil Lutz show reciprocal interest in a multi-year contract.

Lutz had a strong season with the Broncos, converting 30 out of 34 field goal attempts (88.2%) and 29 out of 31 extra point attempts (93.5%). As he approaches free agency, it’s logical that both parties would be interested in continuing their partnership. Head Coach Sean Payton has demonstrated trust in Lutz, who experienced a resurgence last season with the Broncos. It’s likely that Lutz would prefer to remain with the team if the financial terms align. However, the Broncos will need to make adjustments to their salary cap to accommodate a potential deal, which could unfold in the coming weeks.

Last summer, the Broncos made a surprising move by parting ways with longtime kicker Brandon McManus, opting for a new direction. Despite a training camp competition between Brett Maher and Elliott Fry, neither proved convincing, leading to the acquisition of Wil Lutz from the Saints, where he previously played under Payton. McManus, in turn, joined the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Lutz had a solid performance for the Broncos, bouncing back from a challenging season with the Saints. His field goal success rate of 88.2% marked an improvement from the previous season’s 74.2%.

While Lutz missed four field goals, two were from long range (50+ yards), showcasing his reliability for the Broncos. He also encountered two missed extra points, one of which was blocked. However, his performance overall remained dependable.

A notable moment came in a Monday Night Football matchup against Buffalo, where Lutz redeemed himself with a game-winning field goal after an initial miss, thanks to a penalty against Buffalo. This highlight emphasized his value to the team.

A dependable kicker is essential for a team’s success, and the Broncos found that in Lutz. Hopefully, both parties can reach a multi-year agreement to solidify the kicker position for the foreseeable future. As the offseason progresses, what are your thoughts, Broncos Country? Should the Broncos prioritize re-signing Wil Lutz to a multi-year deal, or explore other options?
