In this offseason edition of our SB Nation Reacts survey, we’re posing a single question to Lions fans:

For the Lions in 2024, which holds greater importance: Success in free agency – or – success in the NFL Draft?

While achieving success in both realms would be optimal, we’re keen to understand which avenue fans believe the Lions should prioritize to sustain their momentum in 2024. Each option presents unique advantages, but which holds the potential to elevate the team for the upcoming season?

Free agency traditionally offers an opportunity to address roster gaps with seasoned veterans, instantly bolstering the team. While the Lions have been relatively conservative in free agency over the past few offseasons, they now possess ample resources—particularly with the 2024 salary cap exceeding expectations—potentially enabling them to pursue top-tier talent.

Conversely, the draft serves as a platform for talent development. General Manager Brad Holmes has garnered attention for his remarkable success in drafting, evident in the impact made by last season’s rookies. With four rookies contributing at starter level, two earning Pro Bowl nods, and one securing All-Pro status, the draft has proven instrumental in shaping the Lions’ roster.

However, as the Lions solidify their status as genuine contenders, questions arise regarding their approach now that the Super Bowl window is ajar. Will Holmes adopt a more assertive stance in free agency? Is there room on the roster for rookies to make an immediate impact? Or will the Lions maintain their winning formula through the draft?

The debate beckons. Share your insights in the comments section and participate in the SB Nation Reacts surveys below. Stay tuned for the results from the Reacts surveys, which will be posted later this week.
