“It’s a lot mental,” Wembanyama elaborated. “You know Kobe (Bryant, the late Los Angeles Lakers star) said to win a game, it mostly takes shots, big shots, because they don’t call like any fouls. It’s not as much the physical battle. Even though in defense it’s 90 percent effort, but offensively it’s a lot mental.”
Wembanyama and Holmgren are set to face off again later this season.
While Wembanyama’s offensive prowess was evident, his defensive contributions were equally significant, as he disrupted numerous Thunder scoring attempts with his shot-blocking prowess and disruptive play.
Despite Holmgren’s commendable performance for the Thunder, Wembanyama emerged as the standout player of the night, earning praise from teammates and coaches alike for his fearless demeanor and confidence on the court.
