Updated Top247 Rankings for 2024 Class: Status of Tennessee Volunteers’ Commits and Prospective Recruits

In the latest Top247 rankings for the 2024 class released by 247Sports on Monday, numerous commitments from Tennessee, as well as one of their remaining targets, are featured among the nation’s top prospects. This update comes ahead of Early Signing Day and reflects ongoing evaluations of players’ performances during the season.

Following their top-10 class in 2023, Tennessee is poised to secure another impressive class, currently positioned for a top-15 ranking. The Vols have already secured commitments from nine Top247 prospects, headlined by standout talents such as five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross, five-star wide receiver Mike Matthews, four-star wide receiver Braylon Staley, and four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren, all of whom rank within the top 100 nationally according to 247Sports.

As National Signing Day approaches in February, Tennessee remains in contention for at least one additional Top247 prospect. Notably, an in-state recruit the Vols have been actively pursuing has also seen a rise in their ranking in 247Sports’ latest update.

Here is an overview of where Tennessee’s nine Top247 commitments and their targeted prospects stand in the updated Top247 rankings for the 2024 class:

FIVE-STAR EDGE JORDAN ROSS, VESTAVIA HILLS, ALA.

Previous 247Sports ranking: No. 10 overall prospect, No. 1 edge rusher

Updated 247Sports ranking: No. 11 overall prospect, No. 1 edge rusher

Ross committed to Tennessee on Aug. 21, choosing the Vols over other notable programs like Texas. Tennessee extended an offer to him in September 2022 and successfully hosted him on campus multiple times before securing his commitment just three days prior to his season opener. Throughout his recruitment, Ross also explored options with Florida, Georgia, and Texas, with the Longhorns emerging as serious contenders over the summer. Ross is set to sign with Tennessee and plans to enroll after graduating from Vestavia Hills High School in May.
