These pivotal members of the Rutgers basketball team anticipate their comeback for the eagerly awaited 2024-25 season.

In Minneapolis, following a challenging season on the basketball court, Rutgers appears to have secured a trio of victories off the court. In response to inquiries about their future plans from NJ Advance Media, veteran guard Jeremiah Williams, along with freshmen Gavin Griffiths and Jamichael Davis, expressed their intention to stay with the program for the much-anticipated 2024-25 season next winter.

These revelations emerged during a post-game locker room discussion following the Scarlet Knights’ season-ending 65-51 defeat to Maryland, where they were the 13th seed and Maryland the 12th, at the Target Center. This announcement brings a degree of stability ahead of what is expected to be a tumultuous offseason.

With 15 scholarships currently allocated to next year’s team—two more than the 13-scholarship limit—Rutgers will need to undergo some roster changes this offseason. However, they are not alone in facing this challenge, as many other teams are also projected to experience significant turnover.

Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell commented on the situation to NJ Advance Media, stating, “I’m sure they’re saying that 80 percent of college basketball is going to be in the portal. We’re going to go out and try to be real active.”

However, there are still some key decisions pending for other Rutgers players. Starting forward Mawot Mag, who has one more year of eligibility, indicated that he has not yet considered his future plans in depth.

“I’m just focused about each day, really,” Mag told NJ Advance Media. “That’s going to come in time, but I haven’t really thought of that.”
