Broncos Free Agency Update: Sean Payton and George Paton Embrace the Second Wave

However, the Denver Broncos remained relatively subdued. Yet, this wasn’t unexpected. In fact, the Broncos had been indicating this for almost a year.

Following their significant spending spree in free agency last year, Greg Penner informed reporters during the NFL owners meetings last March that Denver wouldn’t consistently be major spenders in free agency. George Paton reiterated this stance after the season, emphasizing that the Broncos would focus on later waves of free agency this year.

“We won’t be as active in the initial wave of free agency like we were last year. It’s not sustainable annually,” stated Denver’s general manager on January 9, two days after the season concluded. “Our approach will be strategic and targeted, focusing on specific positions and players.”

Now that the first wave of free agency has come and gone, it’s time for the next phase, where the Broncos will be more involved. Here’s the latest on the Broncos’ free agency activities and their current standing.
