20-year-old is undoubtedly the best finisher at Leeds United, and the statistics prove it
Leeds United already have three players sat on double figures for league goals this season, and two more are closing in.
Despite his recent drought, Crysencio Summerville leads the way having found the back of the net 15 times so far, with Dan James just behind on 12, and Joel Piroe on 11.
James and Piroe were very much part of Daniel Farke’s best starting XI during the first half of the season, but injury to the former, and a loss of form for the latter, has seen others come to the fore.
Both Patrick Bamford and Willy Gnonto have become key players in Leeds’ run of 12 wins in 13 league matches, and they also have double figures in their sights with seven goals apiece.
And while clearly everyone from Leeds’ front line has chipped in with some big goals, there is undoubtedly one player who stands above the rest in terms of his finishing.
So far this season Gnonto has accumulated an expected goals (xG) tally of just 4.2 in the league. XG is a metric which measures the quality of a goalscoring opportunity.
This means that from the chances Gnonto has had so far this season, he would’ve been expected to score either four of five goals, had he been performing at his average.
