Two Cardinals starters are placed on injured reserve.
Leki Fotu and Kyzir White will not be available for the Arizona Cardinals going forward.
Arizona — It pours rain when it’s raining.
In a statement released following their Week 11 loss to the Houston Texans, the Arizona Cardinals announced the following roster changes:
“Safety Qwuantrezz Knight (KWAN-trez) has been re-signed by the Arizona Cardinals Football Club, and defensive lineman Ben Stille (STILL-ee) has been added to the active roster from the practice squad.
“In addition, the team placed defensive lineman Leki Fotu and linebacker Kyzir White on injured reserve, re-signed wide receiver Daniel Arias to the practice squad and released wide receiver Davion Davis from the practice squad.”
The two biggest lessons to be learned from this are that both White and Fotu are going to be placed on injured reserve, which will leave holes in Arizona’s defense. Every game, the Cardinals are giving up almost 26 points.
With 90 tackles this season, White leads the Cardinals. In addition, he has one interception, two sacks, and three passes defensed.
At his press conference on Monday, Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon stated, “Kyzir’s going to go on IR.” Bicep: I believe he played five or six plays while suffering from a torn bicep. It was heartbreaking to watch because I had no idea he had injured his bicep and was only using one arm to play. It explains why he is the captain that he is.”
For the Cardinals, Fotu was just beginning to gain momentum in the interior defensive line. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media revealed earlier this week that Fotu may need surgery to fix a small bone in his hand.
With three games remaining in the season, both starters could make a comeback, provided they fully recover in the four weeks they are required to miss.
In Week 12, the Arizona Cardinals host the Los Angeles Rams.
