Real Betis may make two deals with Leeds United; they are looking for a midfielder and a defender.

After Leeds United was relegated from the Premier League, Marc Roca was signed by Real Betis in the summer on a season-long loan. The former Espanyol and Bayern Munich midfielder has impressed club managers since moving to Andalusia. He has proven his talent and adaptability by filling in at center back on occasion.

Since there was no buy option in Betis’ contract with Leeds, they will have to start negotiations to sign Roca permanently. They have, according to Estadio Deportivo, done just that, and talks are now in progress to guarantee the 26-year-old’s long-term future at the team prior to the winter transfer window.

By putting a sell-on clause in place for Leeds to hold onto, Betis hopes to sign Roca for a lower price and receive additional money should he eventually be sold.

While Junior Firpo, formerly of Barcelona, is on Betis’ shortlist for left-back, ED also reports that Roca is not the only Leeds-contracted player that the team is interested in. Firpo has surfaced as a potential option because Abner Vinicius has been underwhelming since joining the team in January and Juan Miranda is expected to depart for AC Milan.

It remains to be seen whether Real Betis can get either deal over the line in January. Signing Roca on a permanent basis would be an excellent piece of business, while Firpo would be solid enough replacement for Miranda, although Atletico Madrid’s Javi Galan is said to be the club’s first-choice option in that regard.
