In college football, this is rivalry week, and the rivalry between Auburn and Alabama for the Iron Bowl is the best in the SEC. Though Auburn is only 6-5 in Hugh Freeze’s first season as head coach, this isn’t the highly anticipated matchup it usually is, but that won’t stop us from finding a winning wager.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Auburn Tigers betting odds: preview
Spread: -13.5 for Alabama; Over/Under: 47.5 Alabama -550 | Auburn +440 is the moneyline.
Since losing to Texas 34–24 in Week 2, Alabama has appeared as a strong candidate for the national championship. Since that one defeat, the Crimson Tide have won nine straight games. They will take on Georgia in the SEC Championship game in hopes of earning a spot in the College Football Playoffs.
To remain in the playoff hunt, Alabama only needs to defeat a middling Auburn team on the road after they were defeated 31–10 at home by New Mexico State last week. The Tigers are dead last in the SEC in passing yards per game and 11th in total offense, indicating that they have had offensive struggles the entire season. When facing an Alabama offense that is third in the conference in points per game, that’s not a good sign.
If Auburn can’t produce big passing plays, it will be difficult for them to stay in this game.
