The contracts of Broncos forwards Brendan Piakura and Jordan Riki have also been extended, so they will stay at Red Hill until the end of 2027. Since making his Broncos debut in 2020, Riki has appeared in 67 games. He was a crucial part of the team’s run to the 2023 grand final.

Coach Kevin Walters stated, “Jordan wants to play his role for the team and he continues to work hard on his game. That’s exactly the kind of player we want in the Broncos jersey.” Piakura, on the other hand, made 13 appearances in 2023 and established himself as a regular in the NRL. The 21-year-old started five games and came off the bench eight, with six line breaks and an average of 72 metres per game.

The seasoned flyer Corey Oates will play for the Broncos for a 12th season after agreeing to a one-year contract extension with the 2023 finalists, as the team previously announced.

Oates played his first NRL game for Brisbane against the Storm in Round 17 of the 2013 season. He went on to play in 201 NRL games, including the grand final in 2015.

With 118 tries, the 29-year-old is fourth on the Broncos’ all-time try-scoring list, behind only Michael Hancock, Darren Lockyer, and Steve Renouf.

“I’ll be trying to prove to myself that I’ve still got it and to show the coaches that I’ve still got it as well,” Oates stated.

Charlie Staines, a winger for the Wests Tigers, inked a new two-year contract that will last until the end of the 2025 campaign. After 39 games and a championship with the Panthers, Staines signed with the Tigers in 2023; however, injuries derailed his season.

Tom Chester, a local junior, has signed a contract extension with the Cowboys that will keep him with the team through at least the end of 2025. The 22-year-old made his North Queensland debut in 2022. Last season, he played in seven NRL games, starting three of them as a fullback.

Matt Moylan, who was released from the last year of his contract with Cronulla to join Leigh, will immediately move to Super League in 2024. After making his debut in 2013, Moylan—a Test and Origin representative—played 102 games for the Sharks and 89 games for the Panthers. He’ll sign a two-year contract with the Leopards that will keep him with the team through the end of 2025.

International Siua Wong of the Sydney Roosters has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through at least the end of the 2026 campaign. Wong, the first player to graduate from the Sydney Roosters Academy to the NRL, joined the Roosters at the age of 14. He completed an incredible 2023 season by being selected for Tonga in the historic series against England.

In addition, the Roosters have locked down playmaker Sandon Smith (until 2026), utility player Connor Watson (until 2025), and center Billy Smith (until 2024). Treymain Spry, an outside back, and the Titans have mutually parted ways. In addition, the Wests Tigers have released Triston Reilly and Brandon Webster-Mansfield from their final year of contracts.

Rising forward Hohepa Puru has re-signed with the Raiders through 2024, with an option to extend through 2025. After a successful year at the NSW Cup, Puru made his NRL debut in the 2023 season’s penultimate round. Ata Mariota and Michael Asomua have also been re-signed by the team to new contracts that will keep them in place through at least the conclusion of the 2026 campaign.
