College Football Playoff Rankings: Prior to bowl season, Ohio State falls out of the Top 4 in the final rankings.

Gus Johnson may have a point when he refers to Saturday’s Michigan vs. Ohio State game as the season’s first College Football Playoff game.

Ohio State has fallen out of the top four in the rankings, so even though technically that was still the regular season, Michigan’s 30-24 victory may have ended the Buckeyes’ run.

After the Wolverines’ victory, Ohio State fell all the way to sixth in the nation, where they were previously ranked second behind Michigan.

Four of the nation’s remaining 12-0 teams are in the top four. Florida State is back in the top four, Georgia held onto the top spot, Michigan rose to number two, Washington leaped to number three.

Florida State defeated Florida on the road, and Washington defeated Washington State on a walk-off field goal with seconds remaining.

Since their next game is yet to be determined, Ohio State will now require some assistance in order to gain admission. This weekend, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, and Washington will compete in their respective conference championship games.

A victory by the Huskies over No. 5 Oregon (10-1, 8-1) could also propel the Ducks into postseason contention.
