Williams’ decision to extend Logan Sargeant’s contract for the upcoming season completes the 2024 F1 grid.

It demonstrates that there won’t be any driver changes across the field from the conclusion of one season to the beginning of the next, which is believed to be an F1 first.

The 22-year-old American, Sargeant, will play alongside Alex Albon for the next season.

“I am thrilled to be continuing with Williams Racing for the 2024 season,” stated Sargeant.

“Working with the team has been an amazing experience thus far, and I am appreciative of the chance to further my driving career with such a talented and committed group.”

“We have exciting plans for the future, and I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success in the coming year.”

Following a difficult acclimatization to life at the top for the former F2 race winner, Sargeant will be given his entire rookie season to establish his case for a 2024 renewal, as Williams team boss James Vowles had made clear in recent months.

Sargeant became the first American to score an F1 point at his home race in October, the United States GP, although he was clearly outperformed by the outstanding Albon, who won the Williams qualifying head-to-head 22-0. Vowles noted that the young driver was improving steadily.

After confirming the driver’s renewal, Vowles made the following statement: “Logan is a perfect fit for our team because he has shown tremendous skill while working under pressure on the international stage.

“We have great confidence in his abilities and believe that together we can achieve even greater success in the upcoming season.”

In the Constructors’ Championship this year, Williams advanced three positions from last to seventh in the former Mercedes driver Vowles’ debut season.

Bahrain will host the 2024 Formula One season from February 29 to March 2, live on Sky Sports F1. Pre-season testing is held the week before, from February 21–23, in Bahrain as well.
