Bears Rumors: It’s Not Like Matt Eberflus Will Get Fired Before the 2023 NFL Season Ends

The Chicago Bears are having yet another dismal season, and it looks like they will stick with coach Matt Eberflus through the end of the campaign instead of making an in-season change, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

Having taken over as head coach of the Bears in 2022, Eberflus, 53, has had little success in the Windy City, winning just seven of his 29 games in that role.

The Bears intend to evaluate Eberflus and his staff for the balance of the season before making any decisions, notwithstanding the setbacks.

Even so, the second-year coach has little time to change his situation and raise his chances of sticking with the team in the future.

The Bears recently defeated the Minnesota Vikings, despite the fact that it was one of the worst performances by any team this season. Nevertheless, a victory over a divisional opponent that could make the playoffs is a positive move.

With a 7-22 record so far, Eberflus doesn’t seem to have addressed the problems that Chicago faced the previous season, when it earned the first overall pick in the 2023 draft—a pick that was later traded to the Carolina Panthers.

In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Bears are currently predicted to select first overall (via Carolina) and fourth overall.
