Jim Harbaugh of Michigan is regarded as the front-runner to lead the Carolina Panthers as head coach.

The Michigan Wolverines, who will play the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoffs, were just selected as the top seed. Nonetheless, it appears that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh may be considering an NFL position as the Wolverines get ready to play Alabama.

As per a report by CBS Sports’ NFL insider Jonathan Jones, Jim Harbaugh “should be considered a real candidate” to take over as the Carolina Panthers’ next head coach.

“Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is one name that wasn’t given much thought for Carolina last season, but perhaps after these 11 games. Harbaugh ought to be taken seriously as a contender for the position, according to numerous sources who spoke with CBS Sports, Jones reported for CBS Sports over the weekend.

According to Jones, Harbaugh regularly contacted the Panthers in January of last year when the team was looking for a new head coach, but in the end, the team chose not to interview him.

The fact that the Panthers had just fired coach Rhule, who oversaw the entire football program, was one of the reasons [owner David] Tepper wasn’t interested in Harbaugh. There was no sense of relief in the building when Reich was fired, despite his tenure producing a 1-10 record, according to sources. After Week 5 of the 2022 season, Tepper fired Rhule, much to the relief of the entire building, according to Jones.

Could Tepper choose to bring on the well-known Harbaugh as an employee? It’s conceivable, and for weeks now, sources have suggested that the Michigan coach would consider making a comeback to the NFL.

The NFL community had a lot to say on social media about Harbaugh’s potential candidacy for Carolina this time around.
