WR and Assistant Coach Are Heading To The NCAA endorsed by PS
Since October, Chris Rumph has been absent from work. He’s starting a new job now.
Clemson has hired Chris Rumph, the defensive line coach from the Vikings, to coach their defensive ends, the program announced on Monday.
Since Rumph has been out since October, the Vikings won’t see a significant change as a result of this. Along with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, assistant head coach Mike Pettine, and assistant D-line coach Pat Hill have taken over his responsibilities. (Pettine has mainly covered for OLBs coach Mike Smith, who has been out of commission since prior to the start of the regular season for unrelated reasons).
After playing for the Bears and Texans for one season each, Rumph was hired by the Vikings in 2022. From 2002 to 2019, he worked as an assistant coach at the collegiate level before entering the NFL. This includes serving as the defensive ends coach for five years, from 2006 to 2010, at Clemson. Thirteen years later, he’s back and assuming the same position for the Tigers, who are looking to make amends for their 2023 season setback.
This coming offseason, Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings will be searching for a new defensive line coach.
Harry joined PS.
N’Keal Harry has joined the practice squad of the Vikings, the team announced. In order to create space for Justin Jefferson on the 53-man roster, he was waived last week. Harry has played 49 special teams snaps and 23 offensive snaps in nine games this season, alternating between the active roster and PS.
