Kyle Edwards will be absent until the start of the new year.

Edwards signed with Oxford United of League One on the summer transfer deadline, and in six games across all competitions, he has scored two goals.

After sustaining a hamstring injury in training at the end of September, he was able to play in the last 25 minutes of Des Buckingham’s first game as manager on November 25 against Cheltenham Town.

The 25-year-old was then left out of the matchday squad against Grimsby on Saturday after starting but only playing for the first half of their goalless draw at home against Bolton Wanderers.

“Kyle has had a little setback, so we’ve sent him for another scan, just to make sure we’re clear on what that is,” stated Buckingham.

He’s most likely another that we won’t see until the new year.

Although Edwards is in the last year of his contract at Portman Road, Town has the option to recall him in January. Edwards is expected to stay with the U’s until the end of the season.
