A painful ankle injury was sustained by Trevor Lawrence during “Monday Night Football.”

On Monday Night Football, the Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a stunning 34-31 loss to the Bengals.

The Bengals, led by backup quarterback Jake Browning, remained competitive the entire game and scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Following a trade of possessions in the extra frame, Evan McPherson’s 48-yard game-winning field goal gave the Bengals the victory.

Sadly, though, the events that transpired on the field prior to overtime will probably be the main memory of last night’s game. Trevor Lawrence of the Jaguars had to be helped off the field late in the fourth quarter due to what appeared to be an ankle injury.

An ankle sprain is the initial diagnosis, NFL insider Tom Pelissero said this morning. Lawrence is going to have an MRI today to find out how much damage he has.

The 24-year-old Lawrence finished 22 of 29 pass attempts last night before getting hurt. In addition, he ran for one touchdown and threw two more.

Lawrence, the first overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, is a player whose health will undoubtedly need to be watched in the future.
