Big Ten Transfer Player Offered by Michigan Football

The Wolverines are searching for more talent within their own conference.

It appears that Michigan is using the transfer portal more and more. Although no players have yet to access the portal, Michigan has made two offers to Wolverines in recent days, and the Wolverines made another offer on Monday.

Donaven McCulley, a former wide receiver and quarterback for the Indiana Hoosiers, registered on the transfer portal on November 28. Since then, he has received scholarship offers from prestigious universities like Penn State, NC State, South Carolina, and others.

The former Indiana receiver announced on Wednesday that the Wolverines had extended an offer to him on X (Twitter).

McCulley, in his second year as a wide receiver for the Hoosiers, recently concluded his junior campaign. The 6-foot-5 playmaker, a four-star quarterback recruit when he arrived at Indiana in 2021, started four of his seven games as a quarterback.

2022 saw him move to wide receiver following spring practice.

Although McCulley caught 16 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown in 2022, it was this season in 2023 that he truly made an impression. The junior, who caught 48 passes for 644 yards and six touchdowns, led the Hoosiers.

In addition to his impressive ball-catching abilities, McCulley is a sound-blocking receiver. Based on PFF, he had the highest run-blocking grade (63.8) among Indiana’s receivers. In contrast, Cornelius Johnson led Michigan in run-blocking this year with a grade of 63.9.

McCulley stated to 247Sports that he is drawn to Michigan and hopes to visit Ann Arbor shortly.

Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson will both be leaving Michigan this season, so the Wolverines may need to add a wide receiver to their roster via the transfer portal.
