George Fant and Dalton Schultz did not show up for practice.
Dalton Schultz, the tight end for the Texans, and George Fant, the right tackle, were both missing from Thursday’s media-accessible practice. This could mean that both players will be missing Sunday’s game against the Jets.
Last week, Schultz was sidelined due to a hamstring injury. He was limited when he returned to practice on Wednesday. In terms of receptions (40), receiving yards (455) and receiving touchdowns (5), Schultz is third on the team. The Texans are looking for other players to step up in Tank Dell’s place as wide receiver for the remainder of the season. Regaining Schultz would be extremely beneficial.
Fant might miss his first game as a Texans player, having started every one of the team’s 12 games at right tackle. Despite being a reliable lineman for the Texans, he did not practice on Wednesday. Fant has appeared on the injury report for the second week running. Despite the injury, he was able to play against the Broncos.
In 12 games this season, the Texans have started six different offensive line combinations.
The Texans have a number of options at right tackle if Fant is sidelined, including Josh Jones, who they acquired through a trade earlier in the season, and Charlie Heck, who was sidelined for the entirety of the summer and the first nine games due to injury.
Safety Jimmie Ward, left tackle Laremy Tunsil, and wide receiver Robert Woods returned to practice, but Fant and Schultz were still absent. Noah Brown, a wide receiver, was present at practice despite his Wednesday limitations.
