Dalton Schultz of the Houston Texans returns from a hamstring injury and says he’s “excited.” Ryans DeMeco
Tight end Dalton Schultz, who missed one game due to a hamstring injury, made his return to the Houston Texans during practice on Wednesday.
Houston — In a road game against the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon, the Houston Texans will attempt to stave off a significant upset.
At MetLife Stadium, the Texans, led by rookie wide receiver Tank Dell, will be missing a key offensive component. However, tight end Dalton Schultz may play for Houston after missing one game because of a hamstring injury.
Schultz was one of four limited participants during Wednesday’s practice at the Houston Methodist Training Center. He sustained the injury during the Texans’ 24-21 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 26.
Coach DeMeco Ryans stated, “Of course we’re excited about that anytime we get out starters back.” “We’ll see where Dalton ends up by the end of the week.”
After becoming a free agent in March, Schultz joined the Texans and quickly became one of C.J. Stroud’s favorite targets in the passing game, hauling in 40 passes for 455 yards and five touchdowns.
In Schultz’s place against the Denver Broncos, third-year tight end Brevin Jordan was instrumental in the team’s 22-17 victory. With three catches, Jordan finished with a season-high 64 yards. His longest came during Stroud’s attempt at a 27-yard pass.
“I thought it was Brevin best game that I’ve seen,” Ryans stated. “I could tell Brevin was going to have a big game by the way he prepared throughout the week. He played physically and was energized and prepared to go. He used explosives in the passing game, and yesterday Brevin Jordan performed incredibly well.”
During Wednesday’s practice, Sheldon Rankins, Will Anderson Jr., and Noah Brown joined Schultz as limited participants. Neville Hewitt (hamstring), Laremy Tunsil (knee), Jimmie Ward (shoulder), Robert Woods (rest), and George Fant (hip) were not present.
