Michael Bidwill of the Cardinals is ranked near the bottom of NFL Owners.

Michael Bidwill, the owner of the Arizona Cardinals, placed close to the bottom of the NFL owners’ rankings published by The Athletic.

ARIZONA— The Arizona Cardinals’ owner, Michael Bidwill, was ranked No. 25 in The Athletic’s 2023 NFL ownership rankings. “Michael Bidwill was running the team for years before his father, Bill Bidwill, died at age 88 during the 2019 season, but the elder Bidwill remained owner until his passing,” wrote Mike Sando, who specified that the rankings were determined solely by winning percentage during their tenure.

As the official owner, Bidwill’s percentage stood at.413, but Sando mentioned that during his time as a shot caller in Arizona, his percentage would have improved and he would be ranked higher.

“Starting in 2004, Michael Bidwill was the driving force behind the hiring of coaches Dennis Green, Ken Whisenhunt, Bruce Arians, Steve Wilks, Kingsbury, and Gannon. Since then, the team’s record is 144-173-2 (.454), which would propel Michael up a few spots in this ranking. During that time, the team made it to the Super Bowl for the first time, but it has also recently struggled with dysfunction.”

In the end, Bidwill outperformed the following NFL owners:

32. Washington Commanders’ Josh Harris
31. Jacksonville Jaguars’ Shad Kahn
30. Panthers player David Tepper

29. Jimmy Haslem of the Cleveland Browns is
28. Denver Broncos player Rob Walton
27. The Houston Texans’ Cal McNair
26. The Los Angeles Raiders’ Mark Davis

Leading the group was Patriots owner Robert Kraft (.666).

Bidwill has been associated with the Arizona Cardinals for many years; he first joined the team in 1996 as vice president, though he was reportedly once a ball boy for the team when they were still in St. Louis.

The Cardinals have made a few runs at the postseason, most notably in 2008 when they won the NFC title and in 2015 when they made it to the Super Bowl. However, they have now missed the playoffs for the final seven of eight seasons that will end in 2023.
