Three players from Arizona’s practice squad who could be undiscovered talents in 2024

The likelihood that the Arizona Cardinals will shelve undiscovered talent is higher than it has ever been since the NFL increased the number of players it allotted to the practice squad.

In the NFL, hidden gems can be found on the practice squad, and the Arizona Cardinals have a number of players who could play a significant role for the team in 2024. However, if they sign contracts for the upcoming season, three of the 17 players on the roster now listed as starters should be closely watched.

One was a preseason sensation with a realistic chance of making the 2023 roster. Another is a defensive player who has mostly established himself on the 17-man roster but has recently seen action. Additionally, the third has been up and down with the Cardinals and may end up having a significant role on special teams.

Three practice squad members of the Arizona Cardinals are scheduled for promotions in 2024:

1 – Wide Receiver Kaden Davis

Before earning a spot on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad, Kaden Davis was one of the more impressive players in July and August. He has been on the squad ever since. Any player who stays with the team for the entire season is a good sign, and if the Cardinals have more pressing needs in 2024, the former Michigan Panther (USFL) could exploit a porous receiving group.

Nevertheless, general manager Monti Ossenfort will surely bring in some competition, so Davis will face more opposition the following season. However, Davis might stay on the active roster to offer depth and value on special teams if he returns and demonstrates that he’s improved from his previous training camp.

2 – Divaad Wilson, CB

Although he has spent most of the season on the practice squad, one player on this list, Divaad Wilson, has spent time with the starting lineup on Sundays. Wilson has performed admirably in 2023 despite his limited playing time, giving up only a 42 percent completion percentage, 7.7 yards per target, and a 69.9 passer rating.

Along with allowing 18.0 yards per reception, the rookie cornerback needs to improve at not getting beat deep. Wilson, a cornerback who has spent most of his time on the practice squad, should get even more time to play next season.

3 – Daniel Arias, WR/ST

Before Daniel Arias eventually returned to the desert, he was signed, released, and then signed to another practice squad. But the former Colorado Buffalo isn’t giving up on his goal of making the team at some point, and his special teams background might help him land a job the following campaign.

Arias seems more suited to be a pure special teams player than Kaden Davis, who adds value to the return game and may also offer depth on offense. As a result, unless he stays for an emergency, you won’t see him play receiver very much.
